Fuji Finepix S1000fd This Fuji Finepix S100fd digital camera review takes an indepth look at the many features Fuji offers in this camera, including megapixels, zoom, shutter speeds, memory cards, amd more...Keep reading to see how this Fuji Finepix camera compares to other cameras. Introduced as the successor to the popular FinePix S700, the Fuji FinePix S1000fd which is the world’s smallest digital camera with a 12x optical zoom. This camera is great for photographers who are looking for an affordable, easy to use point and shoot 10-megapixel digital camera. This camera caters to people who want an SLR-style body and a wide range of features, but don’t want to bother with interchangeable lenses. On top of its basic specs, the S1000fd comes with a Fujinon 12x optical zoom (33mm-396mm equivalent) for greater range and flexibility, Face Detection Technology with Automatic Red Eye Removal, and a Panoramic Shooting mode. Face Detection works by identifying and prioritizing up to 6 faces in the picture regardless of the background. After the shot is captured, each detected face is checked for red eye and if its found, it is corrected automatically which saves you from fixing it later. Panoramic Shooting mode makes it easy to capture beautiful scenery and very large groups. This feature photographs three consecutive 3-megapixel shots which are then saved to your combined into a panoramic picture. Additionally, the FinePix S1000fd also offers other useful features like Picture Stabilization, Movie Recording, and Full Manual Photographic Control. When Picture Stabilization is selected, the camera uses the heightened sensitivity of the FinePix S1000fd and high-speed shutter settings to reduce blue caused by hand shake or subject movement. Picture Stabilization allows the camera to automatically choose the correct light sensitivity and optimal shutter speed to produce clear, non-blurry images. Unfortunately, with the 12x optical zoom, sensor shift or optical image stabilization would have produced better images. Movie Recording allows you to capture VGA quality video at 30 frames per second with sound. With Full Manual Photographic Control, more advanced photographers have complete control over various camera settings including resolution, ISO, aperture, shutter speed and more. This is a great feature to have in a camera in this prices range, as is High Speed Shooting. High Speed Shooting permits you to shoot action and motion photographs at, for example, 7.5 frames per second at 2 megapixels for 15 shots or 1.4 frames per second at 10 megapixels for three shots. Another convenient feature of the FinePix S1000fd is that it has an xD/SD/SDHC compatible slot which accepts not only Fujifilm’s traditional xD picture cards, but also Secure Digital (SD) and SD-High Capacity/SDHC cards as well. The FinePix S1000fd also operates on four AA batteries, which is also a very convenient feature. The Fujifilm FinePix S 1000fd also comes with 14 pre-programmed scene modes. These modes can be selected with one touch for almost any situation you might find yourself photographing in, including Portrait, Landscape, Sport, Night, Fireworks, Sunset, Snow, Beach, Museum, Party, Flower, and Text. These scene modes offer the ultimate in photographic convenience, particularly for the beginning photographer. Rounding out the FinePix S1000fd’s powerful feature set is a large 2.7” high-resolution (230k pixel) LCD, an electronic viewfinder (EVF) and sensitivity levels of up to ISO 1600 at full resolution and ISO 3200 at 3-megapixels.
